The Institute of Sports Sponsorship was founded in 1985, with Prince Philip as its President, to be the representative voice of the sports sponsorship industry. The ISS promotes best practice in sponsorship and works closely with sports bodies, government and the media to improve understanding.
The ISS has now merged wih ESCA to form a new oganisation, the European Sponsorship Association, to represent the interests of the sponsorship industry across Europe.

Within ESA the ISS continues to manage, on behalf of the government and Sport England, Sportsmatch the business sponsorship incentive scheme for grass roots sport.
